Lincoln turns one | Central Florida Family Photographer

I can't believe this little munchkin is one already. I literally JUST blogged his birth. No really, I just blogged it today. Opps. I've never been good at keeping up with this blog but today I noticed how many amazing sessions I have not shared on here. So I'm vowing here that I will blog more (ahhh now that I've said it you can hold me accountable)!

We met up and did a quick mini session for Lincoln's 1st birthday. We took a few family pictures and then sat him in front of his very first cake. He thought it was fun but didn't love it nearly as much as the rest of us did. It worked out well for us because we went out to dinner and then all enjoyed a little slice of cake ourselves. (#not21dayfriendly)

Seriously though, how sweet is he with his spiky hair and little teeth! Happy, happy birthday sweet boy! I love you.

To see Lincolns birth go here and to see his newborn session go here.

Sweet Amelia is here! | Central Florida Newborn Photographer

I was so excited to travel down to Fort Myers to document such a special time in this sweet family's life. They welcomed baby number two into their family. I loved getting to meet this darling little girl! I remember a year and a half ago when her brother had just came home from the hospital and I took his newborn pictures.  Now he is the big brother! I had a blast taking some sibling shots of them. Since he is only 18 months old he wasn't too sure about laying down with her and I wasn't too sure about him holding her. So we improvised.... we got her situated and placed cheerios on her to get his attention. And let me tell you - it worked!!!

Love this family. Thank you guys for inviting me to capture such a big moment in your lives!

Q Family | DeLand Family Photographer | Central Florida Photographer

You know you had a great day when you photograph a family, have dinner together and visit for hours afterwards! This is one of my very favorite families. Photographing them was such a blast! We had fabulous sunlight, location (their yard!) and subjects. I've wanted to blog this session right away but there was a BIG secret that would have been spoiled if I did.... scroll to the bottom to find out!

So excited for the Q Family to welcome another little one into the world. Looking forward to photographing this family for years and years to come.

Alaska Family | Bonita Beach | Southwest Florida Newborn, Children & Family Photographer

I was surprised when I got an email from a vacationing family all the way from Alaska. I instantly thought, "how in the world did a family from Alaska find me?" I am absolutely amazed at how clients find me. I met this family at the beach for a sunrise session. As I waited for them to arrive I couldn't help but notice all of the small raindrops hitting my windshield. I was dreading having to cancel the session because of rain since we would not be able to reschedule while they were in town.

But, as soon as they arrived the rain stopped. The wind, on the other hand, did not. It was freezing! I am so glad I got to meet this family; they were amazing. I loved watching these sisters as they interacted as they were so sweet to each other. I was impressed to watch an older sister lead her younger sister by example time and time again, even when the wind was brutally cold. They are so lucky to have each other and hopefully they will treasure these pictures as they continue to grow up together. I loved watching birds, finding shells and capturing memories with this family.

Growing The Wright Family

Judd & Katy are adopting!

I briefly met Judd & Katy a few years ago when they first moved down here. Somehow I came across Katy's blog that shared some of their story and struggles in conceiving a child. My heart instantly broke for her. I began to pray that God would give them the desire of their hearts.

Fast forward a few years... and they are only a few steps away from growing their family! (To read more of their story go to The Wright's Story)

Are you wondering what that has to do with Katie Zamot Photography? A LOT! March 11th will officially be 1 year of business for Katie Zamot Photography and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than by blessing someone else.

My family believes the bible is clear that we are to look after orphans (James 1:27). We also know that the entire bible is a reflection of adoption as we, ourselves, have been adopted into God's family. Although we are not in the process of adoption we know that we can still come alongside those that are..... So, we are committed to partnering with Judd & Katy to help them overcome some of the financial hurdles that will come as God places a child into their family. So, we asked ourselves- How exactly can we help? I have decided to offer "Help Grow the Wright Family Sessions." The money raised will go directly to their adoption. When I came to Judd & Katy with the idea they were humbled by the idea that people would want to help. They will be joining us for the day and will take a picture with each family that we will put together for Baby Wright to see how loved he/she was before they were even born.

This is an opportunity to grow their family while capturing pictures of your own. We are asking for a minimum donation of $125 but encourage you to give as much as you want! These sessions, due to the time restraints, are for immediate family only. You will receive five to ten images and print rights. Details are below. The location and further instructions will be given to those who reserve a spot. To reserve a spot simply comment on this blog post with your name, email address and the time spot you want. By looking through comments you will be able to see what times are still available. Within 48 hours of commenting below you will receive a Paypal invoice for the $25 deposit. The remainder of payment can be paid when you arrive to your session. If you have any questions please email me at katie@katiezamot.com.

I'm excited to partner with YOU all as WE help to grow the Wright family!

Here are a few peeks of their adoption announcement session. I had a blast with these two!

Natalie + 6 Month Session

     I met this sweet little lady for her six month session. She was as cute & happy as could be. Before we started her session she was all smiles. As soon as we got her in front of the camera she quickly got shy, leaving mom and dad to stand behind me and act a little crazy. But she was one of the happiest little girls. No matter where we put her or had her do, she was happy.

     Her parents were just as sweet, which makes meeting new clients so fun! From the moment Natalie's mom contacted me she was very sweet to say that she loved my work and completely trusted me with the directions for her pictures. I love that mom is already planning on booking Natalie's one year session! Thats absolutely the best compliment a photographer can get!

     These pictures were taken at my favorite field location that is being destroyed in order for them to build what I have been told will be condos. *sigh* More condos? Hoping to get to do at least one more session there... too many unexplored areas to not use!

sweet family of three

I love this family, all three of them. This sweet little girl can be very free with her smiles.... or not very free with them :) I spent a lot of the time looking crazy and repeating, "So you think you can dance?" in a really low tone to get Selah to smile. It works when her parents do it! Most of the time she looked at me like I was insane, but I was okay with that because her other faces are pretty priceless. I like her silly faces as much as the smiles. This little peanut was turning six months old, can you believe it? Do you remember her as a newborn? We took a picture of her when she was 4 days old in a wood crate and then again during this session. It really is amazing how much she has changed in 242 days. I cant wait to add another when she turns ONE! I love capturing each new step for this amazing family.

My Nephew Aiden {...and a little sprinkler fun}

I have to take a minute and brag about my nephew, Aiden. Our family spent two afternoons and evenings at his house this weekend, which gave him and Greyson a ton of time to play together. He is three {and a half} and Greyson just turned one... which are usually hard ages to share. But watching them play together absolutely melted my heart. Aiden couldn't have been any sweeter to Greyson. He is so young and yet you can already see that he has a kind heart. Greyson wanted to be close to Aiden, playing with the same toy and at times trying to sit on his lap. I'm thankful that Greyson will grow up with a cousin that is close enough in age to be friends with. A lot of my favorite memories as a child involve my cousins. We took the boys outside for a little bit to play with a water toy from Target clearance I picked up this week.... these pictures are priceless to me.

{Where have I been?}

My life has been cluttered with to-do lists for months. Blogging is one of the things on my list(s) that just hasn’t been crossed off in a while. Instead I keep transferring it from one list to the next. Am I the only one that does that?

Regardless, blogging has been on the top of my list for a while. I realize I never showed off sweet little Kherington who I was able to capture in her mommy’s tummy a few months before she arrived. It was decided that I would try to be there for her birth if all things worked out (time, babysitter, etc.). Well, while climbing into bed one night I got a the text that said things might be happening. So, I was on alert. Not long after, around one in the morning Megan said ‘we’re heading to the hospital.’ I told her to let me know once she was there, checked and had made some serious progress. There was a quick text back that said to come now. I was a little hesitant but knew Megan knew her body. I was on my way, and made it with little time to spare. You should have seen me running through the hospital parking lot in the middle of the night, quietly hoping no one was going to snatch me up.... I watch Criminal Minds a lot!

Megan made labor look so easy. She was able to use her breathing techniques and stay so in control of her body. I teared up a few times watching her husband love on and support her through the pain. He was right next to her wiping away tears, holding her hand and constantly giving gentle encouragement. I could tell it was hard for her mom to watch her daughter in pain. Luckily, it all went by so fast. They had a few pediatricians in the room, knowing that Kherington would be quickly swept away and examined. So I stayed back in the corner, out of the way.

 Here are a few pictures of the day she was born. And here are a glimpse of what we captured a week later. The one of her and her brother might be one of my favorite pictures ever!

Nate and Ashley are such a beautiful couple who clearly love each other. I cant wait to meet their little one in October! Their due date is the same day we found out we were expecting Greyson, a very special date to me! Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from their reveal session.
